The fruit is bigger and longer than the Taggiasca, black, late ripening and scale, rich in oil with a yield to 24.4%. The plant is not resistant to low temperatures but constant production. local olive cultivar, whose fruit is used both for the production of oil to the olives in brine and cream. Widespread in Liguria. Trees able to reach a great development in favorable conditions, having trees that reach 15-16 feet tall. The foliage is highly branched, with branches that tend to assume a drooping posture, characteristic. The leaves are long, smooth, dark green, shiny on the upper side and gray-green at the bottom. The inflorescences are stretched, loose, provided an average of 19-22 flowers. The fruit is cylindrical, elongated, slightly swollen at the base: at maturity has a purplish black, with very consistent and very oily flesh. The oil is on average 27%. Yield to the mill 24%. It also lends itself to indolcimento.Maturazione of ripening is not contemporary. Core rather large, very sharp apex and expanded at the base, with irregular shallow grooves. Does not denote a particular resistance to common pests. The sensitivity to low temperatures and drought is significant, but the breed is very popular locally.

Olivo Pignola

Trees smaller than the Taggiasca. Stem and branches are not very developed, collected arms, although with disorderly developments. The leaves are large, very elongated, bent shower, dark shiny on top and whitish below (aspect ratios 1:4,3). Flowers occur in inflorescences short and tight, provided an average of 17 flowers. The fruit is rather small, round, black, rather late in maturing. The flesh is firm, with an oil content of 25%. Yield industrial average of 22%. It produces abundant and constant. Resistant to low temperatures and is not very demanding. E 'appreciated by growers for their resistance to cold, continued productivity and good quality oil.
